This is inspired by the singer-chair from the 1950’s. The sketch is of the antique, most inexpensive, bare and classic structure. The wood is whittled, and the spring is hardened from getting poured into steal. Also, anti-rust paint was applied on the metal part.
One of the objectives was to create an office chair with armrests that agrees with the idea of IDEE “a casual and sophisticated lifestyle” and not so conservative. Also, it had to be a matching creation to the desk that was scheduled to be released around the same time.
So, I decided to redesign something using the structure of a classic and casual singer-chair, but also incorporating some modern techniques and materials. For the wooden parts, the seating face and the back face are of the identical shape to reduce the cost. Also, measuring was done in a way that was appropriate for the module so that the work would be effective and detailed but not require the skills of a seasoned expert. This is to maintain the quality of the product and a reasonable price.
Since the catalogue issued in 1999, this has been a bestseller of IDEE.
