When I design something, I always start off by imagining a situation where someone is using the product happily. I first imagined a cordless light that a mother can use anywhere for breastfeeding-a light that is dim enough so it won’t wake baby.
Asano, a traditional lantern menufacture in Gifu prefecture,was established 1n 1917. In 2003, Asano began a project called “Lx. project”,in whtch Yoko Dobashi participated, in an attempt to pass on the techniques og their traditional crafts to future generations. Yoko Dobashi was asked to design a cordless LED model with a modern design that replaces the use of candles.Among the other participating designers were Jasper Morrison,Daisaku Cho,Yindigo A Mochiduki and so forth.
Yoko Dobashi designed a table lamp that resembles a moonlight using the thinnest hand-mede Japanese paper with a high -speed widing technique of bamboo asylum. Only the Asano craftsmen canuse this refined technique.The light does not release heat and it is wireless,like a cradle,it sways soothingly. A great baby-shower gift for many.
